The intention behind ‘Standard’ hit allocation is to spread hits evenly, and this also applies where they occur in conjunction with a barrage weapon; the barrage weapon is fired and each unit under the template is checked separately to see if it is hit, then the other weapons are fired and hits all...

And this is where our experience, and years of queries debated on the forum with Neal Hunt comes in. Neal was part of the team that helped create and test the rules, and (with Dave McCleod and Greg Lane) who formed the original ERC. Neal answered rules questions up to ~2012 when Dave took over. The ...

Irrespective of the way split for is achieved, this will inevitably require some form of book-keeping. I have use magnets to build some of my titans to allow bits to be shot away, recording lost shields and then lost DC. I think it may be possible to adapt this to work here to minimise written notes...

Not quite. As Kyrt said above, Standard hit allocation starts from front to back, placing a hit on the next unit without a hit . If Sniper hits are allocated first to the front units, they merely displace ‘Standard’ hits to the next eligible unit. It is the choice of the firing player when and where...

I suggested working on a ‘bottom’ up basis for IG, Eldar (and Tau?), so initial damage does not degrade the firepower of a titan, which only happens when the DC drops to the value of all weapons. And as it gets down to the last DC, the titan still has one weapon working, justifying the appropriate F...

I have sympathy with both sides of this argument. The ‘rewrite’ should not alter the sense of the original rules, but I also understand the desire to add ‘suggestions’ to cover those gaps in the original rules without FAQ or other guidelines. As a compromise, could these suggestions be placed in a l...

IMO The description of the portable portal definitely should be removed to the special rules page for clarity. Kyrt’s comments notwithstanding, I think people should test and comment on multiple deployment and use of the portable portal. (Don’t forget that it is removed each turn). I would also sugg...

I think freaks are solidly tier 1. Monster BTS, hyper mobile, great assault units, solid air support, and lots of leader. Especially when played by Tim. . . I well remember him thrashing all comers years ago in earlier tournies. Whether this would still be the case now against newer lists would be ...

Are people saying when using DE ⋅ that they exceeded the “3 units maximum” rule, and put 4 units in reserve? ⋅ that they were relying on “3 units per portal” and used the portable portal more than once? ⋅ or that they declared the unit in reserve in the webway, but then...

No. As Dptdexys says, units in reserve must be allocated to a means of entering the table, and once that is done it may not be changed. So units in a spacecraft or aircraft may not be changed to use the webway or teleport. Should a unit leave the table by some means, it may only re-enter by the same...

Interesting debate, but there also seems to be a sentiment that tournament list matchups are playing an increasing part in the game, and also the quality of opposing players.

To what extent do you think these offset the rankings presented?

I agree the definitions need review. Ideally the portable webway portal name/definitions etc can be revised to make it distinct from other ‘portals’ emphasising it’s single use. I suggest adding the new definition to the special rules section, which would leave the original definition of “webway por...

An interesting idea Vaaish Perhaps a simple way around this would be to say that AMTL titans lose weapons when their DC gets down to the relevant numbers (ie bottom up), whilst Ork ‘titans’ (Gargants etc) lose their weapons when they lose any DC (ie ‘top down’). In all cases, round down, so a battle...
