The idea that "we can't give Ulthwe something for nothing" doesn't sit well with me.

I think Chroma should make Ulthwe the only craftworld that can take a Warlock Titan!

After all Saim-Hann has their Vampire Hunter and Beil-Tan has their Void Spinner.

Relax guys, I'm not serious..

Ulthwé has been updated!

Some minor tweaks, and the Spear of Khaine has been added as an option, which is something I'd really like to see people's thoughts on!

Very nice! Good work, Chroma!

Regarding the effectiveness of strategy rating 5 I would opt for leaving the Seer Council at +100pts although on paper +75pts looks more adequate.

The Spear of Khaine is simply overpriced but indeed very fluffy. Make it +25pts thus creating another possibility to spend spare points on and everything will be fine.

Yeah, after seeing the Avatar (without the "Spear") in action, can't say I would spend another 50pts for the extra attack.

I will leave the warlocks on the base though.

Oh, I already agree the SoK is overpriced... but I wanted to high-ball it instead of get the "overpowered" complaints... *laugh*

People should still give it a try, as I haven't seen much playing done with it yet.

I think the Ulthwe list is good.  Playing with an overpowered list is not challenging.  Plus, I am loyal to a fluffy list.  The Ulthwe list is very fluffy.  I think it would be constructive to hear "why" you would use another list to represent Ulthwe.    :)

sorry ide be repeating myself from past threads, i just think it's a bit too limited. i also think the sworwind list with the modifications generaly agreed on in the forum discussions is about competetive with the imperial gaurd and ork lists. i like the ulthwe fluff, ide just rather roll a few of chromas changes back a few vertions.

Could you list the "roll backs" you're concerned about, illuvitar?

When I play Eldar, I always use my "homemade" Craftworld, using whichever Craftworld list I think is interesting at the time.  It's quite possible to see Ulthwé fielding a "fast attack" Jetbike strike using Saim-Hann, or a "scouting" force using Alaitoc... and it's perfectly acceptable to use Biel-Tan to represent Ulthwé on a "total war" footing.

Don't let your paint job limit your options!

im still against the two troupe per warhost limit. i think the lack of an aspect warhost is enough to enshure a gaurdian heavy force.

funny you should put it that way , i admit a bias due to the fact i painted a rather large ulthwe army using the 3 troupe per warhost armylist and im a bit annoyed that it got changed.
oh well, as i said ive gone on about this before. perhaps it could be reconsidered now with the aspect troupe price increase ?
on a more costructive note i like the spear of kane addition, although i agree it's a bit pricey. im trying to get a game together later in the week, ill try to make it a standard gaurd  army vs the new ulthwe list for a good playtest and get back to you on the list as a whole, a cant promise to be entirly objective about that annoying rule tho.

played the new list, 3k vs. steel legion.
-spear of khaine would have been worth it for 25 but 50 points was too much
-i still think three troupes per warhost is a better list, i tried a falcon heavy black gaurdian formation out and found it just too expensive in a 3k battle, the points would have been better spent on taking another troupe, which would of course have been one too many

This has another downside too. Sometimes ulthwe looks like footslogging horde of guardians, and without at least 3 guardian formations, there is not enough slots to use for a proper army in 3k games. It is not a bad thing as so, the list works still fine, but armies tend to look too much the same between games.

I thought Ulthwe was supposed to look like footslogging Guardians!  :p

When people are rare and rate of new births are even rarer there is no idea to march to war like orks!!! :)

If you feel that Guardians are not the way the Eldar would go to war then you might prefer to play Biel-Tan.

it's supposed to be a gaurdian heavy army not an ungainly horde of infantry. charad is right, that's orks. And as i said before i think it's currently much easier to field a playable 3000 pt. army with the bieltan list and just not take a great number of aspects.
